Endangered Species And The Destruction Of Habitat

By Genevieve Thomson

Endangered species may go the way of the dinosaurs, if we do not change our ways by changing our destructive practices on this living planet. We need to stop clearing huge forests, the destruction of ecosystems and habitat in order to live in ever expanding cities.

If we do not live in the cities, we live in condominiums near the sea or up the mountains, on cleared land. Where there was once hundreds or thousands of trees with living ecosystems, there are now condominiums.

If we can reduce the demands on our small living planet, we can stop the disappearance of endangered species.

Sharing Our Space With Many Other Creatures On This Living Planet

We live in a very complex and complicated world. As human beings we often neglect to remember that we aren’t the only inhabitants on this planet. There are many other creatures that we share our space with and they come in all different shapes and sizes.

Animals are fascinating and beautiful to watch. Unfortunately as long as we continue to pollute the earth, we are creating an unsafe environment for them. There are many endangered species at the moment. Some are at risk of dying out within the next ten years. We can change that though.

Charities Assist The Research Into Conservation Of Endangered Species

Many charities exist to help protect these animals. They work hard to protect and conserve the well-being of these creatures. They make sure that the money that you donate goes towards plenty of research for the conservation of these endangered animals. Without the help of these charities, plenty of species would have died off by now and would only be a memory. Thankfully, those endangered species are still alive today.

Kids learn a lot about animals that are at risk of becoming extinct in schools, but they don’t really learn how to save them. Now, under parental supervision, kids can donate their allowance or whatever money they have to foundations that focus on endangered species and can share with their class that they actually made a difference.

Destruction Of Habitat And Clearing Of Land For Condominiums

Kids also learn in school what harms these animals, such as construction by us humans as we tear apart the habitat they live in to create huge condominiums. Children can now know that this is wrong and they’ll grow up to know how to put a stop to such madness to save the animals that have no voice.

It is important that we take care of the world we live in, not only for our sake, but for the creatures as well. It is wrong to dump waste into the ocean, since many creatures call that home. We wouldn’t appreciate someone dumping waste into our home and we are so helpless at cleaning it, so we should not do that to them.

You Can Help As A Volunteer

The best way to take care of endangered species is to either donate or volunteer. When there are oil spills, it is best to get out there and help all that you can. Ducks and other creatures need help getting the oil out of their wings so they can fly once again.

We live in a beautiful world, but we are killing it slowly. It’s time to save all of the endangered species we can and to make sure that none of them become extinct.

We can try to protect as many endangered species by stopping the destruction of habitat, needless trophy hunting and other forms of hunting, like the killing of whales. A lot of these animals will survive if we can provide restraint and do not continue towards excess.

By clearing of the Amazon jungles, we are destroying living space for many creatures. We may even be destroying any chance of finding plants that could help in eradicating diseases, instead of bringing our diseases to these areas. By changing our destructive ways, we can find solutions to many of our problems,

We can look after the environment by using the sun to generate electricity from solar power without emissions, instead of burning fossil fuels to pollute the environment. Looking after our environment, will help the survival of endangered species.

Little Known Ecosystem Facts.....

What types of ecosystems are there?
There are many different types of ecosystems in existence. The tundra, marine ecosystems such as a coral reef and the rainforest are but just three examples of over twenty different ecosystems that we are aware of and interact with on a regular basis.

Your front yard and surrounding area is an ecosystem. Even the busiest city is an ecosystem by the very definition of an ecosystem. It is one in which the organisms are interacting with the environment.
