Green Ideas To Increase Environmental Awareness
By James J Dixon
Green ideas may include recycling your household goods,
using solar power for all your power needs in your home
and using your car less often. Another green idea is
to travel in your local area, rather than taking a holiday
on a plane, reducing the burning of fossil fuels into
the atmosphere.
With these ideas, you want to create solutions that
will reduce pollution and reuse our current resources,
rather than digging up more resources to create more
household products to place in our landfills.
Recycling And Reusing
You can stop throwing all your household products into
the garbage can, and instead take out your recyclable
products and place them for collection by a recycling
collection service in your local area. You can find
out the products that are recyclable from the labels
on the products.
You can also find out if your local waste management
company, also collects recyclable products. Many waste
management companies do.
Better Ways To Manage Our Resources
Going green is big today. Almost every person, company
and organization is trying to conserve the environment
in one or the other. Many organizations are funding
research into green ideas that can help to better manage
our resources while still offering high quality products.
This is good news in the light of recent findings of
need to conserve our environment for future generations.
There are a couple of ideas that both individuals and
corporations would do good to think about, as we are
going to see.
Reusable Fabric Wrapping Rather Than Paper Wrapping
One of the green ideas that can help conserve paper
is the use of gift wrappings. We have been used to ripping
apart gift wraps that we forget that this is wasting.
Even though some of this paper is recyclable, some of
the papers used in the wrappings are non-recyclable
and are a total waste.
A gift does not have to have glossy paper or curly
ribbons to look appealing. Usually the wrap paper can
be recycled by having made into strips. These strips
make excellent and colorful packing and wrapping decorations.
Why not also consider using reusable fabric wrapping?
If you are handy with sewing, you can even make them
yourself.
Reusing And Recycling Resources
A cloth bag with drawstring closure for example would
make a wonderful cover. So would the use of outdated
maps, children’s artwork or even placing items in a
woven basket. All these are excellent green ideas that
go along way to saving resources.
If you pack your lunch to school or work, then you
no doubt are concerned about saving money. Well did
you know that you can also help save the environment
by using alternative packing materials? Instead of using
plastic bags and containers, why not consider using
reusable fabric? Some of these are even made out of
organic cotton.
Creating Your Own Reusable Fabric
They can be washed and reused over and over again.
It is even more fun if you can create them yourself
if you own a sewing machine. Another option would be
to use bandanas to wrap food up. Packing your lunch
in an eco-friendly is not time consuming and in no time
you will come to love it.
You will also get the satisfaction of knowing that
you are not contributing to the wasting of resources.
Rather you are contributing to their conservation for
future generations. Why not try out the above green
ideas and contribute to a more eco-friendly way of life.
Placing Recyclables For Collection
Another way to live the eco-friendly life is to collect
your recyclables in your household garbage. Most of
the material in your garbage container is most likely
recyclable. You should find out if there is a recycling
collection service in your area and arrange for recyclable
products to be picked up from your kerb, rather than
sending them to landfill.
Another green idea, is to use your car less often.
If you need to go to the shop for a newspaper and coffee,
why don’t you take a ride on a bicycle or take a walk.
By using your car less often, you will be getting more
exercise and burning less fossil fuels into the atmosphere.
Meeting All Your Electricity Needs With Solar Power
You can further reduce the burning of fossil fuels,
by switching to solar power, to meet all your electricity
needs. You can turn on the lights and power the appliances
in your home with solar power.
Solar power is generated from free sun energy, so there
are no ongoing solar power generation fees. If you turn
your home into a solar home, then you may not see another
power bill again, as you will be using free electricity
with solar power.
A solar power system is virtually maintenance free.
The one off costs are the installation fees, as there
are no ongoing solar power generation costs. Unlike
the electricity generated by burning fossil fuels and
polluting the atmosphere.
There are many ways you can contribute to provide a
better environment for future generations, by taking
up many green ideas.

Little Known Solar Facts.....
What is the initial cost of switching over to
using alternate energy?
Switching over depends on
what exactly you are switching.
Houses that have to be retrofitted using solar
panels to generate electricity can be quite costly.
Vehicles are cheaper to retrofit but require work.
The costs can vary for anything switched over.
The best way to get an estimated idea is to seek
out a contractor or mechanic that is for using
alternate energy sources.
