Natural All Purpose Cleaner Helps To Keep Your Home Clean
By James J Dixon
Seventh Generation’s "Chief Inspired Protagonist,"
Jeffrey Hollender, has been an innovative mind in green
technology for nearly a decade. Hollender said the environmental
crusade really hit home about six years ago when his
son went to the hospital for asthma.
Hollender explains, "A leading asthma specialist
confirmed the cause was 100% environmental and the cure
included mattress covers to confine dust mites, no carpeting,
and non-toxic cleaners!"
Thus, his cause was born and he went on a quest to
make the best natural products at the most affordable
prices he could. The Seventh Generation Natural All
Purpose Cleaner is just one product of an entire line
of green cleaning supplies.
No Caustic Smell
"The best part is that I don’t have to get it
at some overpriced specialty store; they have it right
in my local Albertson’s," one reviewer says of
the Seventh Generation Natural All Purpose Cleaner.
Other consumers like that it doesn’t irritate their
skin, eyes, lungs, pets or children. "Just switched
over from Lysol-brand bathroom cleaners, and this works
just as well, with no caustic smell and no more need
to wear gloves," explains one fan of this natural
cleaner. Consumers indicate that they use this spray
on cars, countertops, stoves, linoleum floors, showers,
faucets, tubs and tiles.
Streaks On Mirrors
However, there are a few qualms about the Seventh Generation
Natural All Purpose Cleaner too. Store Trooper Karen
Kirkman says she prefers Lysol All-Purpose and that
the Seventh Generation didn’t get the stains out of
her porcelain sink. In reviews at www.drugstore.com,
consumers commented that they sometimes get streaks
on mirrors or a filmy residue with this product.
Reviewers have described the scent as "fishy,"
"chemical" and "strange." Some of
the raters at www.ecohuddle.com
said they were disappointed with the "cleaning
power" of this product, although they admitted
that they’re not really "into cleaning that often"
or that they hoped the product would tackle larger messes
and stains.
Getting Into The Eco-Friendly Spirit
Seventh Generation’s line of green cleaning products,
including their Natural All Purpose Cleaner, are looking
to inspire more consumers to get into the eco-friendly
spirit. The company’s co-founder often pens op-ed pieces
for The Huffington Post, mentioning that he feels we
should have one gold standard for environmental products
that fancy themselves "natural," "organic"
or "green."
The absence of such standards creates a sort of "Wild
West" of cleaning products, he says, which sows
doubt into the minds of consumers and leads them to
fear they’re being led along for the ride as manufacturers
charge higher prices; not because the naturally derived
ingredients cost more but just because they can.
