Save The Earth For All Our Children
By Genevieve Thomson
Save the Earth and we will give our children a planet
where they can breathe clean air and live in a helpful
and clean environment. We need to cease creating toxic
waste, like nuclear waste where there are no methods
of safe disposal and remain toxic for hundreds of thousands
of years.
There are a number of ways people can take, to help
save the earth. One is to recycle most of household
waste, to stop sending everything to landfill. Another
way is to buy products made from recycled materials.
One more way is to use solar power in your home and
business. You can help cut the cost to our planet of
burning fossil fuels or using nuclear power to generate
electricity and pollute the environment with toxic waste.
Solar power is the new technology. Solar power uses
free sun energy as the source of creating electricity,
helping lower your power bills as there are no ongoing
solar power electricity generating fees.
Finding New Energy Sources
It is amazing how much things have changed. It used
to be that everyone wanted to save the world from communism.
I still sometimes watch old cold war era movies where
the hero has to do everything in his power to save the
Earth from a diabolical Russian scheme. Movies like
Red Dawn played on our primal fears of worldwide nuclear
holocaust.
One would expect that, with the Cold War over, that
type of doomsday mentality would fade out. Surprisingly,
it has not done so at all. People still feel that our
very existence is in trouble, and the threat seems every
bit as imminent. If anything, the cries for saving the
Earth have become even more urgent.
Save The Earth From The Greenhouse Effect
You see, mutually assured destruction was by no means
inevitable, but global warming is. “Save the Earth from
the greenhouse effect” is on everyone's lips, from elementary
school students to legislators. Even Republicans are
using the save the Earth language, so you know we're
in trouble.
Unfortunately, although everyone wants to save the
earth, few people really have a clear idea of how best
to go about doing it. There are, of course, many moderate
changes that you can make to help prevent further environmental
destruction. Some people think that you can save the
Earth by planting more trees. In a certain way, this
is true.
Taking More Drastic Measures
Plants reduce carbon dioxide levels, taking it in and
producing oxygen which reduces the greenhouse effect.
Still, a few trees, or even a few thousand trees, won't
make that much difference. If we want to save the Earth,
we have to move beyond investing in renewable resources,
planting trees, and cleaning up trash on Earth day.
We need to take more drastic measures.
Some people are so grim about it that they think the
only way to save the planet is to kill off a large number
of people. In some ways, this frightening philosophy
is eerily rational. People create most of the global
pollution, ergo the way to handle global pollution is
to kill people.
In my opinion, however, this save the Earth approach
is worse than the disease. After all, saving the earth
isn't really about the Earth at all – it is about the
people. We need to save ourselves from our own destructive
environmental practices. The extinction of animals is
frightening, but the eventual extinction of our friends
and family is a hundred times worse. This is what we
should think about when we think of talk about saving
your earth.
More Efficient And Cleaner Systems
Rather than killing people, we should look at using
more efficient and cleaner systems to sustain the environment.
Rather than burning millions of trees to make way for
farming, we should plant more trees. Use more efficient
modern farming practices to reduce the negative effect
of destructive farming on the soil and the surrounding
environment. Organic farming is one solution. More and
more farmers are taking up this option to care for the
soil and help create organic produce to feed our population.
Another way to save the earth, is recycling. Mountains
of waste are used as landfill, when a lot of the waste
could be sent to recycling. When you buy products, check
to see if the products is created using recycled materials.
Especially when you buy paper products, confirms no
new trees were cut down to create your product, and
it was manufactured using recycled materials. By taking
action and influencing your friends and colleagues to
do the same, will help save the earth.
After all, we want our children to breathe clean air
and to inherit a clean environment created by everyone
taking action to save the earth.

Little Known Alternative Energy Facts.....
Can I use alternate energy for my vehicle?
Yes. In the past five years many
vehicle manufacturers have come to realize the need
for cars that do not run primarily on gasoline or diesel.
Most companies have produced a hybrid which combines
the use of gas and electricity to power the vehicle.
The United States took it a step farther by offering
tax breaks to owners who purchased an environmentally
safer car.
