Smart Homes With Efficient Technology Systems

Smart homes take advantage of current technology to
enhance the energy efficiency, security and livability
of a family home. These days, you can take advantage
of green architecture, to design an energy efficient
home. You may also use energy efficient appliances in
your home, to reduce your power bill.
Another way to reduce your power bill is to use alterative
power systems like solar and wind power. These systems
use free sun energy or wind energy as their sources
and do not contribute high emissions to pollute our
atmosphere. Unlike burning fossil fuels, which contributes
high emissions and help speed up the consequences of
global warming.
Smart Homes With Practical Technology
My first introduction to smart home technology was
as a hobbyist, long before I became an installer. I
was interested in home automation from a very early
age. I used to love reading science fiction, and smart
homes were a big feature from the 1950s onward.
Ideas that once seemed impossible – homes with lights
that can turn on and off, stereos that could be commanded
by voice, and burglar alarm systems that can be monitored
from 1000 miles away – are now prosaic realities. Yet
smart homes are about more than neat gadgets and gizmos.
In many ways, they are a very practical technology.
Smart Homes Are Now A Reality
Back in the day, having a smart home was about showing
off what you could afford. The technology was sort of
clunky and primitive, and only the rich could really
set it up. Nowadays, however, smart homes are moving
in the opposite direction.
The technology is not just used for stereos that can
be commanded by your voice or heating up your bedroom
before you wake up. Smart technologies are useful to
review your options for saving energy, providing greater
security, and in reducing environmental impacts.
Automatically Turn On And Off The Heater Or Cooling System
For example, nowadays there are smart homes that can
target heating or cooling to the room that you are in
automatically. This can save a huge amount of money
– particularly if you live in a pretty big house.
By only heating and cooling a few rooms instead of
the whole house, energy consumption can be cut in half
or even less. Similarly, smart homes with high-efficiency
light bulbs that turn off when you are in the room save
a tremendous amount in heating costs.
Of course, the gadgetiness of the whole thing is still
pretty cool. In particular, it is pretty great to be
able to access your home computer from the other side
of the world.
Better Security Systems In Your Home
Through the use of web cams, security monitors, and
even robotic technologies, you can see what is happening
in your house at any time of any day. This is nice,
particularly if you’re taking an extended trip. It allows
you to have that extra measure of comfort, knowing everything
is safe and sound.
Soon, all of our houses will be smart homes. As a matter
of fact, the day isn’t far away when you won’t
even notice the technology. Having everything centered
around a single monitor in a single computer is sort
of an old way of doing it.
As computers get cheaper and smaller, we can afford
to pack in more and more of them, using small systems
to control every room individually.
A Solar Power System For A Smart Home
A smart home could also use solar power to turn on
the lights, run your home appliances and heat your solar
swimming pool. Using solar power helps reduce the cost
of electricity as solar power is sourced from free sun
energy. These days, you can transform your home into
a solar home by arranging the installation of a solar
power system to run all your power needs.
You can have solar hot water, turn on your lights,
run all your home appliances with solar power. You do
not need to pay high power bills in order to have electricity
in your home. You can reduce your power bills by using
solar power.
High Emissions From Fossil Fuels Contribute To Global
Warming
When you buy electricity from fossil fuel burning power
stations, the fossil fuel source has to be dug and often
transported long distances to the power station and
then burned to release huge emissions into the atmosphere,
contributing to global warming.
Alternatively, using solar power without emissions,
to meet your electricity requirements and using the
sun as your source for free sun energy can help reduce
the effects of global warming. Fossil fuels will eventually
run out, but free sun energy is infinite.
A Low Maintenance Solar Power System
With a solar power system you do not pay ongoing solar
power generation fees, you only pay for the solar power
system and the cost of installation. Many manufacturers
offer 10 to 25 year warranties, as there are no moving
parts to break down and the system is low maintenance.
Along with all the other efficiency systems available
today, installing a solar power system in your home
may be one of the better ideas for smart homes.
