Tropical Rainforest Is A Natural Wonder

By Genevieve Thomson

Tropical rainforest contains natural ecosystems with all the beauty of natural surroundings. If you live in the city and rarely go on trips to visit the great national parks, then you are missing the experience of the natural wonders of the world.

If you go to tropical areas, you may visit tropical rainforests full of wonderful ecosystems. You may see animals, plants, insects unique to that forest. You may see exotic colors you may never have imagined.

On your first visit to a tropical rainforest, you should arrange for a guide to show you all the fascinating areas of the forest. You may need the guide to help protect you against attack by any of the residents of the rainforest.

Finding Out About Tropical Rainforests At School

I remember when I first learned about tropical rain forests when I was in school. We were doing a unit on tropical rainforest animals as part of our natural sciences class. You have to understand that I lived in a pretty urban environment. I had seen a few exotic animals at the zoo, but nothing more wild or out there than a lion or a tiger.

Animals that lived in the tropical rainforest are something else entirely. Tropical animals are fascinating. The environment is so rich and varied that they can grow to large sizes and develop very special and interesting adaptations. Some of them have strange iridescent skin to blend in with the lush green scenery. Others have sticky feet, extremely well-developed eyes, or long snouts to fertilize and pollinate particularly strange looking flowers.

Visiting A Tropical Rainforest

When I first got the chance to go to a tropical rain forest a few years ago, I was absolutely overjoyed. Tropical rainforests had always seemed like some sort of strange fantasy land to me. I never realized that you could actually go to one.

I guess I had never thought of it until one of my friends proposed a trip to me. He said that we should go down to Costa Rica together over summer vacation. I absolutely jumped at the chance. It seemed like the opportunity of a lifetime.

Hiring A Guide To Show You Around

You can't quite just go out in the tropical rainforest on your own. We would have liked to explored by ourselves, but we decided to give in to prudence and hire a guide. I'm glad that we did. Tropical rainforests have some pretty nasty critters in them. There are giant insects, poisonous snakes, and even large mammals that can injure humans. If you know what you're doing, the risks are pretty low. Still, that doesn't mean you should go in if you don't know what you're doing.

Our guide showed us all around the tropical rainforest. He was particularly good, and by the time the trip was done I was pretty sure I knew enough to walk around by myself. We actually arranged to take a little hiking trip together without anyone else there. It was wonderful to be in the rainforest – just my friend and I.

I've never seen anything quite so beautiful as that environment. It is definitely a trip that I will remember all my life, and certainly not the last tropical rainforests trip I will ever take. I'm already planning one for next year.

Tropical Rainforests All Over The World

I am looking at the presence of rainforests all over the world. It seems each rainforest has its own variation of wildlife and plants and ecosystems. Living in the urban jungle, in awful concrete buildings, is a far cry from the trees and natural water streams. The only man made structures you may see in a rainforest are walking paths and a bridge or two.

A lot of rainforests need looking after. In some countries, rainforests are being cleared to make way for farming and build cities and towns for expanding populations. In this process whole ecosystems are destroyed, and once these ecosystems are destroyed they are difficult to rebuild.

The residents of a tropical rainforest may harbor the solutions for a lot of the diseases affecting humanity. By destroying whole ecosystems, we may never find these solutions.

Apart for the natural beauty of these forests, this is another reason we need to maintain every tropical rainforest.

Little Known Ecosystem Facts.....

What types of ecosystems are there?
There are many different types of ecosystems in existence. The tundra, marine ecosystems such as a coral reef and the rainforest are but just three examples of over twenty different ecosystems that we are aware of and interact with on a regular basis.

Your front yard and surrounding area is an ecosystem. Even the busiest city is an ecosystem by the very definition of an ecosystem. It is one in which the organisms are interacting with the environment.
