Waste Management And Saving Your Recyclables
By Genevieve Thomson
Waste management probably does not cross your mind
a lot, other than knowing which day to put your garbage
out for pick up and how much your local environmental
services department will be charging for the month.
But it is so much more than that.
The local recycling program counts on you to help them
succeed in keeping the area free from unnecessary garbage.
After all, this is your home too and you want to make
it the best home possible, unless you intend to live
on a distant planet and shuttle back and forth daily.
Waste in cities and towns across the globe continues
to pile up. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates
that only thirty-two point five percent of people are
now recycling more waste than ever before, which means
a very large number of people don’t bother.

Save Your Recyclables
Household hazardous waste pollutes the environment
and continues to destroy our precious ecosystem. But
you do not throw recyclables in with your regular trash,
do you? Good, because that would mean you are not doing
your civic duty.
Waste management involves everything that encompasses
your life. It is about recycling plastic materials,
keeping paper products out of landfills and taking part
in recycling aluminum cans and glass bottles as frequently
as possible.
Get Cash For Your Cans
You already know to separate your waste materials into
separate bins for pick up. You take your cans to a recycling
center for processing and you get a little bit of cash
back.
You probably also buy products that contain recycled
materials because that is the type of great environmentalist
that you are. You know that by buying recycled goods
you are perpetuating the cycle of recycling.
Doing Your Part By Using Products Made From Recycled
Materials
From the road that you drive on to the paper that you
use to write letters, these products may contain materials
that have been recycled. So, you are doing a great service.
Congratulations on doing your part to help save the
environment and keeping waste that can be reused out
of our landfill sites.
Chances are that no one is pointing fingers at you
if you do not recycle; at least not yet. But you should
really consider getting your act together and taking
part in waste management. Consider it an easy way to
do your part for the environment.
The goal is to keep the Earth clean, for us and for
future generations. That is a great movement, so do
your part.

Little Known Recycling Facts.....
What about food and yard trimmings?
Yard trimmings are a great way to
help recycle and create fertilizer. Food waste products
are disposable too but they will smell so bad when
decomposing that you will definitely have a problem
with animals and neighbors.
When it comes to creating your own compost pile you
want to stick with organic materials such as leaves,
plants, grass and other yard wastes and leave food or
animal wastes alone to be disposed of in another manner.
