Wind Powered Generators For A Clean Source Of Electricity
By Genevieve Thomson
Wind powered generators are springing up in many areas
all over the world. As many people are looking for a
cleaner source of electrical energy to meet their power
needs, they are choosing wind power as a clean, no emissions
form of power generation.
Electricity from wind power generators is an environmentally
clean power generation system, and they are a clean
alternative to the fossil fuel burning power stations
as there are no chimney stacks, no burning of huge amounts
of fossil fuels and do not create huge amounts of greenhouse
gasses.
Clean And Cheap Energy
You may have noticed that there have been wind powered
generators going up in certain areas of the United States.
I know that there are now some in my part of New York
State, and there are also some near the Reading area
of Pennsylvania. I am sure these are not the only ones.
I commented to my husband that it seems we are going
back in time to energy sources that our great grandparents
might have once used. This is mostly because this is
a clean and cheap way to get energy, and the environment
is in desperate need of a break. Did you know that you
too can take advantage of this technology on a smaller
scale?
Choose Your Energy Needs
The larger wind powered generators you see are going
to bring you energy through your electric company. My
local company sent out a letter with details about how
you can use this technology for your own personal electric
use.
You can choose where you want your energy to come from,
and the wind powered generators are just one of the
options from which we can choose. We have yet to sign
up, but it is something I am going to do before the
summer approaches. I like the idea of using clean means
of generating the electricity that I use in my home.
Smaller Units Are Available
While those wind powered generators are large, and
you could never afford one for your own use, there are
some smaller ones out there. These are largely for small
items, but they can be useful to generate small amounts
of wind powered energy.
Some are advertised as ways to power up cell phones
without plugging them into the wall, or to run some
of the smaller appliances in your home. It would depend
on the size of the wind powered generators that you
get and how often you wish to use them.
Daily Energy Use
You can hope that generators powered by the wind become
more and more common in our daily energy use, but you
may have to realize you may not be able to use these
on your property. It does depend on how much wind you
get. You may be in a spot that does not get much, and
that means your wind powered generators are not going
to help much.
They are going to be great when they can work, but
you should know there are going to be days when they
simply cannot generate a lot of extra power for whatever
use you have in mind.
Living In A Windy Environment
But if you live in an area where there is a lot of
wind, then you make take advantage of the free wind
energy, by using a small wind powered generator. If
you live high up on a hill, or in the open plains, where
it is always windy, then you will always have free wind
energy.
Free wind energy helps you cut down on the cost of
electricity from the power grid. As source of energy
is the free wind air, then you are not paying for the
ongoing power generation, if the wind power generation
system is on your property.
For the time when there is not enough electricity to
meet your needs, you can switch to the power grid, or
use solar power to power all your appliances and lights
in your home. Solar power is another system where power
is generated from a free source, the sun. Once you pay
for the installation of a solar power system in your
home, there are no further charges for the generation
of solar power in your own home.
Using a solar power system in your home, will save
you on your power bills, as you may no longer need electricity
from fossil fuel sources to meet the requirements of
your home.

Little Known Solar Facts.....
Who first used solar power?
It is believed that the ancient Greeks utilized
the sun when constructing their buildings. They realized that houses
and buildings facing the sun would receive more warmth and light.
Native Americans followed the same practice. The first
industrial use of solar power was brought about thanks
to Auguste Mouchoute in 1861 with his steam engine that
was powered by the sun. His invention may not have been
very popular with the coal industry but it was a start
in the right direction for the use of solar power.
