Wind Solar Power Energy Generation Guide

Wind Solar Power Generating Green Electricity For Your Home

By John M Saragunter

Wind solar power is used to generate green electricity, helping to replace fossil fuel power sources, as the supplies of fossil fuels are being depleted. Wind and solar energy sources are infinite and will never run out, unlike fossil fuels. This is why, people are looking for renewable sources of energy like the sun and wind, to replace the old technology fossil fuel power systems.

Wind and solar power do not generate high emissions to pollute the atmosphere, so the increasing use of these systems will help reduce pollution levels in our atmosphere, slow down and may even help prevent the catastrophic effects of global warming.

You can take action to help your environment, by arranging for the installation of a solar power system in your home and business, to generate your own solar power with free sun energy. Your reward, is a reduction in your power bills.

Windmills Are Adapted To Produce Energy

When you see windmills what comes to your mind? Do you think of the Dutch countryside scattered with these structures? Do you think of the windmill-fighting Don Quixote, the fictional Spanish nobleman? Whatever comes to your mind, one thing is true; wind solar power is now a reality in many places.

After decades of neglect, windmills are being adapted and changed in design to allow them to produce the needed energy that is so vital for life in the 21st century.

Producing Electricity With Wind Turbines

Although used to turn a grinding stone that would be used to obtain flour for bread, wind mills are being for a completely different purpose today – to produce electricity through wind power. In California, there are more than 16,000 wind turbines that are run by windmills with huge rotor blades.

The exploration of wind power is not a new concept. Early, humans have always sailed the oceans even before the advent of the engines. Ships are driven by wind and for centuries, humans have used wind power to pump water and saw wood.

Fossil Fuels Are Being Replaced WIth Renewable Energy Sources

Today, they are still used to pump water where power outages occur. In the 20th century the ease with which fossil fuels could be harnessed and the resultant greater power from these resources pushed wind power to the back seat.

In the years following the use of fossil fuels, it seemed that this form of fuel was cheap ad plentiful and thus easily eclipsed wind solar power. However, the 1973 oil crisis changed the viewpoint of many and since then, wind solar power again came to light and has done that ever since.

Wind And Sunlight Are Inexhaustible Sources Of Energy

From an environmental point of view, wind solar power clearly stands out and has taken on a new appeal. Wind and sunlight being inexhaustible were thus seen as the best alternative. In addition, they are also much easier on the environment and do not produce fearful weather and climate phenomenon as is seen with fossil explorations.

Wind energy produces no chemical emissions whatsoever making it one of the most user-friendly alternative energy resources out there. So how much energy can a wind turbine produce? Wind energy varies as a cube of the wind speed.

Wind Turbines On Hilltops Take Advantage Of Accelerating Winds

This means that when the speed of the wind doubles, the power provided is 8 times more. You can therefore see why a small increase in wind power can result in a massive boost of energy output. This is called the Cube law.

To take advantage of the law, wind turbines are placed on hilltops where wind accelerates as it passes. Wind is just one of the many alternative energy sources that may preserve our environment from the effects of fossil fuels.

Generating Free Electricity In Your Home With Solar Power

Another alternative energy source is solar power. There are a number of ways to generate solar power in your home. One option is to place solar panels on your roof, capturing solar energy from the sun, to generate solar power.

Generating electricity this way, helps to reduce your power bills, because sun energy is free and there are no ongoing costs to generate solar power from your solar panels. Once you pay for the installation of a solar power system in your home, and start generating solar power to power all your appliances, turn on your lights and heat your water, you will see a substantial reduction in your power bills.

Sell Excess Electricity Back To The Power Grid

You may even realise, you do not need power from fossil fuel sources any more, as you have all the power you need, with your solar power generation system. In fact, you may realise you can sell some of the excess power back to the power grid and generate a new source of income for your family.

There are many gadgets and appliances for your home you can use with solar power. For example, if you want to take a swim on summer nights or on cold winter nights, you can heat the water with solar swimming pool heaters. A solar hot water system can heat the water in your home. Outdoor solar lights with motion sensors can help you walk around your yard at night, or provide extra security around your home.

These are some of the advantages of wind solar power systems.

Little Known Solar Facts.....

Is solar power and solar energy the same thing?
Actually even though people interchange both words, they are not the same thing. Solar energy is the “catch all” term that describes all the uses of solar rays.

Solar power is the specific action of photovoltaic rays being captured and converted into electricity. Most people do not realize the difference and it is a very common misconception.
